Welcome to the September edition of the CBT Nuggets newsletter!
Greg wows at VMworld
Trainer and virtualization expert Greg Shields is fresh off another fantastic appearance at VMworld. In fact, Greg’s presentation on “Avoiding the 19 Biggest HA & DRS Configuration Mistakes” was one of the highest-rated sessions of the 2012 event! If you didn’t get to see it in person, you can watch a video. You can also find Greg’s slides from the session here (PDF).
Nuggets goes to skola (school)
This month CBT Nuggets heard from Kim, a computer networking student at Mälardalens University in Sweden. Kim told us that the students in the department are CBT Nuggets fans, so we helped them kick off their skola year in style with some Nugget gear. See the students, and read what they have to say about CBT Nuggets training, here.
iPhone, tablet apps
We’re happy to announce that new CBT Nuggets iPhone and Android tablet apps are now available! The apps, which requires an active CBT Nuggets streaming subscription, feature a clean design, fast video playback, and mobile-to-web bookmarks. You can easily find and play videos, and an enhanced reporting system means all training minutes viewed in the app are reported to the account’s training administrator. If you had the original app, you’ll want to uninstall it and install the new one from the App Store – it’s free! Look for the iPad app soon.
When it comes to Microsoft Server 2012 training, we’re here for you. Don Jones’ “Server 2012 First Look” series is available for free, and training series for exams 70-410 (James Conrad); 70-413 (Don Jones); and 70-417 (Tim Warner) are currently in progress. Training for other Server 2012 exams will be underway soon.
We were excited to see Don’s expertise prominently featured in a recent article by tech journalist Joab Jackson. The article, “Windows Server 2012 embraces the data center,” landed in numerous outlets, including Computerworld, InfoWorld, and PCWorld.
See Keith on SearchSecurity
CBT Nuggets has partnered with SearchSecurity.com, a leading security resource for IT professionals, to produce video tutorials. This month, trainer Keith Barker hosts a tutorial of pfSense, an open-source firewall based on FreeBSD. Watch the video at SearchSecurity.com, and continue to look for a SearchSecurity.com video from Keith each month.
