LPI updated its LPIC-1 exams in April 2009, and the following training may not cover the current exam objectives. We are currently updating this training. Follow the progress of this new LPIC-1 training on our Videos in Development page.

The Linux Operating System continues to grow in popularity and acceptance world-wide and the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) has designed a certification program to certify the competency of system administration using the Linux operating system and its associated tools.

This training maps to the LPIC-1 exams 101 and 102 and teaches you how to work at the Linux command line, perform simple maintenance, support users, and carry out backup, restore, shutdown and reboot commands. You''ll also gain the skills to install and configure a workstation and connect it to a LAN, or a stand-alone PC via modem to the Internet.

Just thought I would drop you a quick mail commending you on the wonderful Linux material. I am 28 years old and run an IT support company in Johannesburg South Africa. All of our clients are mainly windows shops. For a long while I have been trying to get some Linux experience as I would love to start implementing some Linux systems for our clients. MS Licenses are really expensive especially in countries with weaker currencies. The thing that has been holding me back is that I do not feel comfortable implementing an operating system I feel I can not fully support. I have bought Linux books and have been playing around with the various distributions as they have been released inevitably landing up re-installing windows due to frustration of not being able to understand the inner workings of Linux/Unix. After going through the first 2 videos in the course material, I knew that this is exactly what I had been looking for since my Linux quest had begun. The Nuggets builds an understanding from the ground up, leaving the student at the end of the videos with a very sound understanding of Linux operating systems as well as skills to feel reasonably competent administering Linux operating systems. I must tell you once again what a superb product! Clear concise easy to understand training that I can highly recommend to anyone.
