CompTIA Changes Its Mind Facing criticism from current certification holders, CompTIA reversed its decision to set 3-year expiration dates for existing A+, Security+ and Network+ certifications or those awarded in 2010. As before, these certs will remain valid for the lifetime of the holder. But please note: if you haven't earned A+, Security+ or Network+ certs, but are planning on doing so, make sure to take your certification exams this year. Certifications earned after 2010 will expire in 3 years. <back to top> Shawn Powers Update One of our newest instructors, Linux ace Shawn Powers, recently suffered a personal loss when fire destroyed his home. Shawn and his family are all ok, but lost everything they owned, including their pets. During February, 1% of the money CBT Nuggets earns will be given to Shawn and his family. In addition, the Linux Journal has set up a site at ChipIn.com to accept donations of cash and coordinate any equipment donations for the Powers family. <back to top>
