Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) create virtual "trip lines" around your network - an IPS can automatically detect hostile traffic, sound an alarm, and block the hostile traffic's movement through your network, all while providing uninterrupted service to legitimate network users. The two Exam-Packs in the Cisco IPS Specialist Certification Package teach how to deploy and manage Cisco's intrusion prevention devices on your network, as well as how intrusion prevention fits into an overall network security strategy: Exam-Pack 642-533: IPS Implementing Cisco Intrusion Prevention System Exam-Pack: 642-533 IPS will show you how to deploy, configure and maintain IPS sensors on your corporate network. This includes using both the GUI and command line administration environments for setting up and maintaining your IPS. You'll even learn how to configure it to manage access lists on all your network devices. This allows you to setup on-the-fly access list configuration on other Cisco devices to block the intruder's IP address from reaching the network.
Exam-Pack 642-552: SND Securing Cisco Network Devices Secure routing and switching. Firewalls. Intrusion prevention systems. Virtual private networking. Wireless security. The hacker mindset. A Cisco Certified Security Professional has to know them all. Securing Cisco Network Devices (SND) brings all these technologies together, teaching you how to use this knowledge to build a complete network security system.
In addition to all the real-world skills you learn from this training, the videos in the Cisco IPS Specialist Certification Package map to exam objectives to help you prepare for the certification exams. IPS Specialist Certification gives employers confidence that you can implement intrusion prevention to protect their network resources. Prerequisites A thorough understanding of Cisco networking such as a CCNA certification or equivalent knowledge is recommended before viewing these videos.
